Chapter Council Presents Sharing Roundtables at MLA ’08

Submitted by Melanie Cedrone, Biomedical Library, University of Pennsylvania–Philadelphia; edited by Pamela M. Corley, AHIP

Network! Share experiences! Make new friends! Discuss current issues! Attend the Chapter Council Presents Sharing Roundtables for lunch and informal discussions on a variety of topics.

The roundtables will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2008, from noon to 2:00 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from and share knowledge with colleagues on specific topics. Additionally, participants will be able to network with MLA members, both experienced and new.

Attendees must register for the session by topic with their annual meeting registrations. There is no onsite registration for the roundtables. Tickets are $45 and include a choice of chicken or vegetarian entrées, which will be served to you at your table. MLA and chapters will again underwrite the cost of attendance for a limited number of new members (i.e., those who have been members of MLA for fewer than 5 years). The free slots will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to new members who register online for MLA ’08.

Facilitators and recorders are needed for this event. Expertise on the topic is not necessary to facilitate or record, although some topical knowledge is preferable. Facilitators initiate discussion and encourage participants to share their ideas, experiences, and concerns. Recorders take notes on the discussion and submit summaries to be posted on the Chapter Council web page. The roundtable reports from previous years’ events can be accessed at www.chaptercouncil.mlanet.org/roundtables/.

Facilitators and recorders earn one point toward membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals. To volunteer to facilitate or record, please contact Angela Dixon.
